Update from Project Hope for the Children

Looking Back on 2021

Hello Friends, We here at PHFTC wish you a Blessed New Year and want to thank you for partnering with us in our mission to care for abandoned and needy children! We appreciate you and would like to update you on the highlights of this last year!

News from Romania

This year, Ramona and Kristen (Vice Chair) were able to fly to Romania and work for the first time since Covid started. They were able to meet some other missionaries there, hear their stories, and make connections. They met with the directors of the afterschool program, spent the day with the children at the program, and met with the town mayor. We have been so pleased to see how this particular village government are so caring towards the Roma population and afterschool program. We were able to purchase sheets, towels, and pillows for an orphanage that had burned.

We purchased food and hygiene for FMN ministries that went into their co-op for their working moms. Another exciting thing that happened was that Ramona and Kristen were allowed into our pediatric hospital in Sibiu. This was an unexpected blessing to be able to work with the babies! Several months worth of supplies were purchased and sent to the hospital, as well. Through Andrea, our Outreach Director, the women were able to visit the local orphanage in Oradea and spend time with the teens there. We are hoping to once again go this Spring and bless the babies and families we care for.

News from Puerto Rico

2021 gave PHFTC the wonderful opportunity of going to Puerto Rico! This has been on the heart of our Executive Director, Ramona, for several years. It all came together last spring during a lull in covid! Ramona and Kristen visited with two group homes for children in foster care and brought supplies and books. They made contact with a pediatric hospital in San Juan and bought baby essentials and supplies for the children living there.

The women were able to meet the student in foster care that PHFTC is sponsoring to go to the Christian School and Chapel for the Deaf on the island. His story and his struggles were heartbreaking to hear, but solidified why we do what we do. While on the island, the women visited an afterschool program and toured the facility. The history and affects of this organization has changed so many needy children’s lives. Later this year, PHFTC purchased backpacks and supplies for the program. The next trip to PR is planned for this February

Financial Status

PHFTC had the blessing of several safe, successful fundraisers this year! March Madness, a portrait session fundraiser, our first Online Auction, and Giving Tuesday all received a great response and you, our friends, have been so generous! Through churches, organizations, and private supporters, we have been able to expand to Puerto Rico without risking the projects in Romania that we are already committed to.

In 2021, over $33,000 was donated for our mission! Our proposed budget for 2022 is $41,572, as we hope to increase our aid in Puerto Rico this year. We are trusting that God will supply all our needs as He knows exactly what needs will come and what children we care for.
