Update

Hi Friends!
Happy Spring! What a busy year we have had at PHFTC already! I wanted to bring you up to date a bit on what has been going on lately as so much has happened! All the tax receipts and thank you letters have been sent out as of the end of January. If you did not receive yours, please send us an email. Next, came the planning and going on the trip to Puerto Rico in March and the trip to Romania in May. After that, I will be contacting places to speak. If your church, organization, or group is interested, please let me know!

News from Romania

Things in Romania are going well! My dates to be there are May 2-17th. I will be shopping for supplies for the hospital, afterschool program, orphanages, and mother's food co-op.
We have been in contact with our hospital in Sibiu and they will be in need of diapers shortly. I have plans to visit and work there for a few days in May to see the children and buy any other special items they may need. The hospital has been doing a great job of caring for the terminally ill children and getting the other children healthy so they can return to their homes or foster homes.

Andrea, our Romanian Outreach Coordinator, has been busy, as well. She has become a foster mother and taken in a girl that she has been mentoring for years. This will be an adjustment for her and for her daughter so please pray for them. She has also been visiting one of the orphanages we help and spending time with the teenagers there, giving them attention and spiritual advice. When needed, she has done some shopping with the directors of the afterschool program for food to feed the children attending~ and there are many children!
If interested in helping sponsor her monthly salary of $300 from PHFTC, please contact us. We have lost some of our donors for her this year and need help providing everything.

News from Puerto Rico

I just returned from the trip to Puerto Rico last week. Debbie Warner, our former Vice Chair, accompanied me and was a huge help with the shopping and delivering of the supplies!

It takes hours to shop in the stores as we are working off of of 4-5 lists. We found the items requested, purchased them, loaded them into the rental car, unloaded them at the house, added to the pile another day from other stores, reloaded them into the car, and finally delivered them. This pattern happens repeatedly throughout the week.

We spent around $10,000 in supplies alone on this trip, not counting the rental car, housing, food, and airline ticket. For example: one orphanage needed clothes for their little ones- sizes 2t to 6 - and we provided about $3000 worth this trip.

While on the island, we bought hygiene packs for homeless women through a project run by the C&M Alliance in San Juan. We had lists from two Hogars (or children's homes) for medicine, clothes, hygiene products, baby gear, and office supplies.

We had an extensive food list for the afterschool program and a small list for a church that is starting a neighborhood Sunday School program for at risk children that will later expand to an afterschool program. Finally, we visited the single moms group and purchased their handmade jewelry, that we will be reselling here.

This trip blessed my heart so much as I held the babies, played and did crafts with the little ones, talked with the other directors, who work so hard every day, saw the slums where some of our kids live, and witnessed the sweet generosity of the single women. My prayer is that PHFTC blessed them at least as much as I was touched!

Prayers & Praises

  • Thankful for safe travels to PR and a successful trip.
  • Thankful for the ministries on the island that care and love on these beautiful children that are in traumatic situations.
  • Thankful we had the money needed to provide so much of what these foundations needed for the children.
  • Prayer that we can continue to build relationships and trust there.
  • Prayer for one to two more Directors on our Board. We currently need a Vice Chair, skilled in technology.
  • Prayer that the Romanian trip will go smoothly and I will have wisdom on where to prioritize the money and how to minister to the dear ones there.
  • Prayer for Andrea in her new role combined with me arriving for 2 weeks and needing her.
  • Praise that I found an airline ticket that flies directly into Oradea~ something I've waited 20+ years to do.
  • Prayer that we have all the money needed for supplies there and for any extras that might come up.
  • Prayers for my family as I will be away again for 2 weeks~ this is a sacrifice for my husband and children to have me gone, for the sitters that come in to help with our son, Andrew, and for me as I juggle everything. *Our son, Andrew, will be having a very serious back surgery soon after I return and I will have to shift gears quickly to focus on him and his recovery.

Financial Status

Our May trip to Romania, will cost us at least another $10,000 to $12,000 in supplies alone. We will need more in the account to enable us to do all of the purchasing needed.
