2024 Online Auction
PHFTC is pleased to announce that we are doing our 4th Annual Virtual Auction starting on November 14th and running until the 17th! This fundraiser has been a hit and a great blessing to our budget while giving you, our supporters, a fun way to do some shopping! This year we are going to be trying a new platform facilitated by Zeffy.com. We will receive 100% of the money from the auction with no fees attached, though there is an area where Zeffy will ask you if you wish to donate towards the fees. There will be a learning curve with this new platform, but we hope that with the savings it will justify any inconveniences that could arise. We will send out more information in the weeks ahead! If you have anything that you would like to donate for the auction, please contact Ramona at caring@projecthopeforthechildren.org. We had many beautiful donations last year that we greatly appreciated! Those items would need to be given to Ramona by November 1st. Thank you!
News from Romania
Our Spring trip brought many wonderful opportunities to serve in the hospital, visit the Castle Orphanage and St Angela's Orphanage, to purchase mountains of supplies, visit with our beautiful Joy Beadz Ladies, and the Afterschool Program kids! Such a wonderful time blessing helping these children because of your generosity!
Recently, with the skyrocketing costs of inflation, the Directors of Smile and Hope for the Future Afterschool Program needed money for food. They have over 50 children attending the program on a daily basis and they serve one good, hot-cooked meal a day so the children can focus and do well on their studies. Thankfully, though we are close to the end of our budgeted year, we were able to say yes to this great ministry! Andrea, our Romania Outreach Coordinator, went shopping with the Directors and purchased $1000 worth of food.
News from Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico is doing well! Our trip there was very successful as we continue to make more contacts and develop deeper relationships with the ministries we are partnering with on the island. Ramona took her children plus two more teenagers and they each had an administrative job, as well as helping with the shopping, and of course visiting the orphans and at risk kids. It was a great learning trip for them where they served their peers less fortunate than them.
We also joined with a couple of Alliance Churches in San Juan that had programs helping the poor and needy. One program is for single mothers who cant afford to live comfortably. They teach the women how to make different crafts that they can sell to provide for their children so Social Services doesn't need to remove them. PHFTC bought many items and we are reselling them here! We were also blessed to spend two afternoons playing with the children at two orphanages that we assist with supplies after we made our deliveries.
Another highlight was bringing supplies and visiting the Pediatric Hospital in San Juan and reading and playing with the medically, fragile foster children in their care. One day, we also visited Casa Juan Bosco Afterschool program to deliver supplies and play with the disadvantaged children. We were told that a few days before their pantry was almost completely empty. The head Sister calmly looked at the empty room and told her workers that God would provide! It was a good thing that room was almost empty because when we arrived and brought in all the food, there was no space left! Thank you for being a part of God's provision!
